Unit price perSpread on the floor, the navy blue field simultaneously unfurls the tale of multiple figures and horses. A single combat, a hero in despair, a woman with disheveled hair—a single carpet pictorially recounts the tragedy of the great ancient Persian epic, the "Shahnameh."
"The Tragedy of Rostam and Sohrab" Woven by the Mirmhidi Workshop
This is a masterpiece from the Mirmhidi Workshop, renowned for its narrative pictorial works among Qom silk carpets. It depicts the tragedy of Rostam, the greatest hero of the Persian national epic "Shahnameh," and his son Sohrab, woven using the "simultaneous narrative technique" (a method found in historical paintings of both the West and East) that portrays five scenes simultaneously on a single canvas. Employing several times more colors than a typical Qom silk carpet, the expressions of the figures, the patterns of their costumes, and even the saddles of the horses are meticulously recreated through hand-weaving.
Five Scenes of the Story Contained in One Piece
1. Omen: A scene where a young Rostam and Tahmineh (the beautiful princess who would become Sohrab's mother) witness a Lamassu (a winged bull spirit with a human head). This is depicted as a premonition of conceiving an extraordinarily brave warrior's child.
2. Sohrab's First Battle: The grown son Sohrab engages in single combat with the Persian female warrior Gordafarid. A dramatic moment when he realizes his opponent is a woman the instant her helmet is removed. The scene also weaves in a depiction of his parents watching from afar.
3. Fierce Battle Between Father and Son: In the center of the carpet. The three-day fierce battle between the hero Rostam and his son Sohrab. After fighting without knowing each other's identity, Rostam emerges victorious, only to experience a moment of despair when he realizes that the one he struck down was his own son. The stunned gaze of his mother Tahmineh is also woven into the scene.
4. Separation: The scene where Rostam and Tahmineh part ways after their son's death. This interpretation, not present in the original work, adds the separation of the couple.
5. Mother's Recollection: A scene where Tahmineh, with disheveled hair, recalls her child's life. The carpet concludes the story with the mother's sorrow.
The Detail and Luster Unique to Silk
Because of the fine 100% silk threads, one can discern the expressions of the figures, the embroidery on their costumes, the manes of the horses, and even the metal fittings of the tack. The navy deepens with the angle of light, and the vermillion, gold, and green of the costumes emerge—an expression unique to silk.
How to Integrate into Your Home

The subdued color palette adds an extra touch of elegance to a tranquil reception room.
The Intricacy and Sheen Unique to Silk
Because it is woven with fine 100% silk threads in a dense pile, every detail is discernable, from the solar motifs in the center of the medallion and the slender stems of the arabesques on the ground to the lachaks in the four corners and the continuous flower pattern on the border. This is the unique character of silk: the chestnut deepens in certain angles of light, and the cream inside the medallion seems to float. The impression changes depending on the pile direction, so the rug's orientation also alters its look.
Placement in Your Home
Measuring 135 x 206 cm, this rug is the perfect size as a center rug in front of a 2-3 seater sofa, a focal point in a reception room, or under a dining table. The monochromatic chestnut color scheme harmonizes beautifully with white walls and wooden floors, simultaneously adding serene dignity and warmth to the space.

Placed at the entrance, a golden vase sits in the center of a deep navy field, with a bouquet of red roses blooming in an oval above it. Small red roses and yellow-green flowers line the border, and at the top edge is a weaver's signature in Persian. Simple yet eye-catching, this is a classic design for rose lovers.
Hayatbakhsh Workshop's Rose Vase Pattern (Vase Motif)
This is a work from the Hayatbakhsh Workshop, known for its delicate weaving among Qom silk products. It is a piece that expresses the classical vase motif (goldani) in the simplest and most impressive way, featuring a golden vase (goldan) on a deep navy field, topped with an oval bouquet overflowing with red roses. The border features a continuous pattern of small red roses and yellow-green flowers on the same navy background, with a thin yellow-green border around the perimeter. By limiting the number of colors, the contrast between the red roses and navy stands out in this piece.
The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk
Because it is made of 100% fine silk threads, you can discern the gradations of each rose petal, the leaf veins, the detailed work of the vase, and the intricate continuous flower pattern on the border. Depending on the angle of the light, the deep navy sinks profoundly, and the red roses emerge, a characteristic expression of silk.
How to Incorporate it into Your Home
At 62x99cm, it is the perfect size for an entrance mat, a wall decoration, or framed as the centerpiece of a living room or study. The combination of deep navy and red roses complements both white walls and wooden floors, adding both elegance and vibrancy to the space. It is also a popular choice as a gift for those who love roses.

When laid in the living room, a multi-colored sun medallion floats on a deep purple background, and upon closer inspection of the border, you can see miniatures of the ancient Persepolis palace, chariots, and figures. It is a piece that embeds a story from Persian history within a classical medallion composition.
Persepolis Story Medallion from the Mohammadi Workshop
This is a work from the Mohammadi workshop, known for its unique designs incorporating historical motifs, even among Qom silk products. A multi-colored sun (Shamse) medallion is placed in the center, and the outer perimeter features a black border with a series of small figures depicting the ancient Persepolis palace, chariots, and people. This piece incorporates scenes from Persepolis, one of the greatest historical sites in Persia, as a story within the classical Lachak-o-Toranj (corner & medallion) composition.
The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk
Because it is made of fine 100% silk threads, you can discern even the sun medallion in the center, the small flowers scattered across the ground, the palace columns on the border, the chariot wheels, and the outlines of the figures. Depending on the angle of the light, the deep purple deepens, and the multi-colored border shimmers like jewels, a characteristic expression of silk. It is a type of piece that reveals new scenes the more closely you look, inviting you to decipher its details.
