Description
Upon closer inspection, you'll see the intricate radiating pattern within the central medallion, and pairs of birds hidden among the flowers blooming from the vases in the four corners. This rug is a tapestry of small discoveries hidden within classical motifs.
Medallion and Vase Rachak by Albal Workshop
This is a work from the Albal workshop, known for the intricacy of its weaving even among Qum rugs. It features an oval medallion in the center, with a sunburst-like radiating structure inside. Large boteh (paisleys) extend to the left and right, and the rachak (corner crests) in the four corners are woven with flowers blooming from vases (goldan) and pairs of birds. The field is a blue-green and navy ground with colorful floral patterns, and the border is a black ground with multicolored plant motifs that pull the whole design together.
The Intricacy and Sheen Unique to Silk
Because it is made of fine 100% silk threads, you can discern every detail, from the radiating pattern of the central medallion and the intricate details of the boteh, to the outlines of the birds in the rachak. The way the blue-green and red quietly change expression with the angle of the light is also unique to silk.
How to Incorporate into Your Life
At 100x150cm, this rug is the perfect size for the foot of a reception room or bedroom, as a hallway runner, or framed as a wall hanging. Since silk is tightly woven, it repels fine dust, is less prone to static electricity, and everyday maintenance only requires vacuuming.
A one-of-a-kind item selected from Qum. You can see the actual luster and hidden details in the video. Golestan, Persian rug specialty store.

Colours That Shift With the Angle
