Description
When placed in a living room or on a wall, a golden arch and columns on either side rise from the center of a jet-black background. Inside the arch, a tree of life extends, with colorful flowers and small birds gathering at the ends of its branches—a scene like paradise reflected within a Persian prayer niche (mihrab).
Mihrab Pattern (Prayer Arch and Tree of Life) by Mirmehdi Workshop
This piece is by the renowned Mirmehdi Workshop, famous for Qom silk. "Mihrab" refers to the niche in a mosque wall that indicates the qibla direction (Mecca). This work uses the mihrab arch as a frame for the composition, with a tree of life extending inside it. A golden arch and columns on either side are set against a jet-black background, with flowers, small birds, and the tree of life inside. Floral medallions are continuous on the four corners and the outer border, and signature cartouches are placed at the top and bottom. This is one of Mirmehdi Workshop's finest intricate compositions, using a rich palette of colors but tightened by the jet-black background.
The Luster and Intricacy of 100% Silk
Because it is 100% silk, the closer you get, the more details become visible: the ornamentation of the arch, the fine details of the columns on either side, the tips of the branches of the tree of life, each individual flower, the feathers of the hidden small birds, and the continuous floral pattern of the border. The luster of the silk changes with the angle of the light, with gold and pink rising from the jet-black background, showcasing the true essence of Qom silk.
How to Incorporate into Your Life
Measuring 105 x 159 cm, this is the perfect size for a room corner, a long hallway, an accent rug in the living room, or as a wall hanging or framed art. The jet-black background complements both white walls and wooden floors, adding a narrative single painting to the space. This piece is ideal for those who wish to enjoy a composition that envisions paradise within a prayer arch, distinct from the splendor of a central medallion.
This is a one-of-a-kind item personally collected by the owner from the Mirmehdi Workshop in Qom. You can see the actual luster, the intricate details of the arch, and the minuteness of the tree of life in the video. Golestan, Persian Rugs Specialist.
