Description
When laid on the floor, a large medallion with golden petals radiating outwards emerges from the center of a royal blue ground. On closer inspection, small mosque lamps adorn the corners of the border, and a vase delicately drawn with thin gold lines is featured in the cartouche at the top. This rug resembles a mosque ceiling decoration transferred onto a carpet.
Sedighian Workshop's Golden Eight-Petal Medallion
This is a representative composition from the world-renowned Sedighian Workshop, known for its Qum silk. A golden eight-petal medallion is placed on a deep royal blue ground, with lamp-shaped pendants hanging above and below. The medallion's outline is framed by a cloud band pattern, and the entire field is densely filled with golden vines and small flowers. Among classical Rachak-o-Tranj (corner and medallion) designs, this composition exudes the dignity of a royal court.
The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk
Because of the fine 100% silk threads, the overlapping golden petals, the thin gold lines outlining the design, and the intricate details of the corner lamps are all discernible. Depending on the angle of the light, the royal blue deepens in hue, and the gold subtly shimmers.
How to Integrate it into Your Life
At 76x119cm, this rug is the perfect size for a center rug next to a sofa, at the foot of a bed, as an accent in a hallway, or framed as a wall decoration. The deep blue and gold stand out against both white walls and wooden floors, adding a touch of stately elegance to any space.
