This piece is from the world-renowned Sedighian workshop, known for its Qum silk rugs. A golden rosette medallion is set against a deep bluish-grey ground, with lamp-shaped pendants hanging above and below. The medallion's outline is framed by cloudbands, and golden vines spread across the entire field. It is a reinterpretation of the classical Lachak-o-Toranj (corner and medallion) design, rendered in a subdued bluish-grey.

The Intricacy and Sheen Unique to Silk

Because of the fine 100% silk threads, every detail is discernible, from the overlapping petals of the rosette to the outlines of the cloudbands and even each individual leaf on the border's vines. Depending on the angle of the light, the bluish-grey intensifies in blueness, and the gold subtly shimmers.
