Description
When placed in a living room or on a wall, large paisleys (boteh) are arranged neatly and continuously on a refreshing aqua-blue ground. Inside each paisley are intricate floral patterns, with small red and gold sunbursts at the center. Large circular rosettes rhythmically adorn the outer border, revealing more intricate details the closer one gets.
Chadori Pattern from Mir Mehdi Workshop (Continuous Paisley with Central Sunburst)
This piece is from the renowned Mir Mehdi Workshop, famous for its Qom silk. "Chadori" refers to a composition where the same unit pattern is neatly repeated, creating a continuous fabric-like appearance. This particular work features large paisleys (boteh) arranged across the entire ground, filled with intricate floral patterns, and a small red and gold rosette placed only at the center. The top and bottom feature mihrab-like arch decorations, and large circular rosettes continuously adorn the outer border, with the entire piece unified by a refreshing aqua blue. It's a piece that prioritizes the beauty of repetition, using a limited number of colors.
The Luster and Intricacy of 100% Silk
Because it is 100% silk, the intricate details become more apparent the closer you look, from the floral patterns within each paisley and the central sunburst to the circular rosettes on the border and the thin aqua-blue fringe. The luster of the silk changes with the angle of the light, and the aqua blue transforms from clear to deep, showcasing the true essence of Qom silk.
How to Incorporate It Into Your Home
At 107 x 164 cm, it is the perfect size for a room corner, a long hallway, a living room accent rug, or as a wall hanging or framed art. The refreshing aqua blue pairs well with both white walls and wood floors, adding a refreshing, waterside feel to the space. This piece is ideal for those who appreciate the beauty of repetition and a single-color gradation, rather than the splendor of a central medallion.
This is a unique item personally acquired by the owner directly from the Mir Mehdi Workshop in Qom. You can see the actual luster of the silk, the intricacy within the paisleys, and the clarity of the aqua blue in the video. Golestan, a specialty store for Persian carpets.
