Stepping into the entrance, you are greeted by a Tree of Life rising from a blue-green field, and a pair of birds perched as if holding a vase. Another pair of blue birds is hidden in the upper corners, making this a piece with continuous discoveries the closer you look.

Vase and Tree of Life by Albal Workshop

This is a work by the Albal workshop, known for its delicate designs even among Qom rugs. It features an arch-shaped composition called a "Mehrab" (prayer niche), with a vase (gordan) in the lower center and a Tree of Life extending upwards from it. A pair of lions stands on either side of the vase like guardian beasts, and a pair of blue birds is perched on floral branches in both upper corners. The field is a blue-green (turquoise) ground, and the borders are dark blue, tightening the overall design.

The Precision and Luster Unique to Silk

Because it is made of 100% fine silk threads, you can discern the leaves of the Tree of Life, the decorations on the vase, and even the feathers of the birds at the top and bottom. The way the blue-green subtly changes its expression with the angle of the light is also unique to silk.
