Description
Displayed in your entryway, the sky-blue octagonal medallion floating on a black ground immediately catches the eye. A closer look reveals a radiating sunburst in the center of the medallion and large boteh (paisleys) in the four corners. The strong contrast in colors gives this piece a sophisticated presence in any space.
Albar Workshop's Black Ground Sunburst Medallion
This piece is from the Albar Workshop, known among Qum producers for its bold color contrasts. A sky-blue octagonal medallion is placed on a deep black field, with an intricate radiating sunburst structure woven inside. Large boteh (paisleys) line the four corners and the top and bottom edges, tying the entire design together. This piece reinterprets the classical medallion composition in a modern way with its black and blue contrast.
The Intricacy and Sheen Unique to Silk
Only with 100% fine silk threads can one discern the radiating lines in the center of the medallion, the detailed boteh, and even the outlines of the flowers scattered across the ground. The way the colors on the black ground change expression with the angle of the light is also unique to silk.
For Your Entryway or Wall Decor
62x89cm is a standard size for entryway mats. Many people also frame them as wall hangings. Because silk is tightly woven, it repels fine dust and is less prone to static electricity, making daily care as simple as vacuuming.
