Description
When laid on the floor, it evokes the view of a Persian mosque's dome ceiling from directly below. From the golden rosette in the center, a diamond-shaped mesh spreads out radially, with a small flower woven into each cell.
Dome Pattern (Gombadi) from Arbab Workshop
Among Qom silks, this workshop specializes in "Gombadi" (dome patterns), which reproduce mosque architectural designs in rugs. The golden-yellow rosette in the center represents the skylight at the dome's apex. From there, a radial mesh of diamond and teardrop shapes (muqarnas / stalactite ornamentation) spreads out, with intricate red and pink small flowers woven into each cell. This rug encapsulates classical Persian architecture.
The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk
Because it is made of 100% silk with fine threads, every detail is discernible, from each radial mesh to the small flowers within each cell and the fine lines of the vine pattern in the border. The bluish-green shimmers with the angle of the light, and the golden rosette stands out, creating an expression unique to silk.
How to Incorporate it into Your Home
At 81×119cm, it's the perfect size for a center rug beside a sofa, at the foot of a bed in a bedroom, as an accent in a hallway, or framed as a wall hanging. The refreshing bluish-green complements both white walls and wooden floors, adding a tranquil mosque ceiling-like presence to the space.
