About the Mirmehdi Workshop

History of the workshop. Aghagol Mirmehdi is the founder of the "Mirmehdi Workshop." He was born in 1932 in Jasb, which was once part of Isfahan Province and now belongs to Markazi Province. At the age of 16 he began making handwoven carpets and completed his first work. The first carpet he wove was made of wool with a Caucasian-style pattern, measuring 2.5 by 3.5 m. It was based on navy blue and was made in Jasb. After that, he collaborated with renowned designers of Kashan such as Mr. Seyed Reza Khan Sanei, Mr. Afsari Kashan, and Mr. Sazvar, broadening the range of his designs. He added his own sense of color to the sketches drawn by these designers and made carpets based on them. His early works were all made of wool, with a weaving density of 30 to 40 Raj (a unit expressing the weaving density of Persian carpets). The combination of the delicate weaving of skilled artisans, the use of high-quality wool, the adoption of traditional designs, and his own unique color techniques caused his fame to spread in no time. The workshop's challenge. In addition to making wool carpets, he also began making silk carpets in Qom. The first silk carpet he undertook was a 6-meter piece of pure silk in navy blue with a Shah Abbasi pattern. Through his tireless effort and passion, he built one of the largest handwoven carpet workshop brands in Qom. Features of the workshop. The carpets of the Mirmehdi Workshop excel in beauty and originality, created in collaboration with designers who represent Persia. The unique color techniques of the founder, Aghagol Mirmehdi, add a one-of-a-kind charm to the works. In addition, the finest silk and wool are carefully selected, and skilled artisans weave them with great skill while preserving traditional techniques. Furthermore, through thorough quality control that attends to even the smallest details, they continue to produce carpets of high refinement. In this way, the carpets of the Mirmehdi Workshop are highly esteemed around the world as works of art. The workshop's mission. Today, the Mirmehdi Workshop celebrates its 74th year, and under the guidance of Aghagol Mirmehdi and his sons (Ali, Reza, Abolfazl, and Mohammad), it continues to create the finest silk Persian carpets in Qom. The mission of this workshop is to carry on authentic traditional techniques while creating the finest works of art and delivering them to people all over the world. Today, the carpets of the Mirmehdi Workshop gracefully adorn galleries, museums, and mansions around the world.

The Workshop's Signature

In the signature area, "Qom Mirmehdi" is written in a beautiful Persian script. A carpet on which you can see the workshop's name woven unobtrusively into various parts of the work is said to be proof that it is a piece Mirmehdi made with full confidence in the workshop as a whole.

Features of Color and Pattern

Each workshop has its own distinctive features of color and pattern.

Features of Color and Pattern

The carpets of the Mirmehdi Workshop are characterized by original designs based on rare geometric patterns and on the motif of a paradise of little birds. Their colors, based on pale greens and blues, do not fade even after several decades and keep their beautiful vividness. Some of the colors also use plant-based dyes, so you can feel the warmth of nature. The works, into which the artisans have poured their feelings, have beautifully even weaving and an expression so lively that the patterns almost seem about to move. Through this carefully crafted weaving, the carpets become works of art that go beyond mere floor coverings.
